A sailboat is traveling east at 5.0 m/s. A sudden gust of wind gives the boat an acceleration of 0.80 m/s/s at 40 degrees North of East.  What is the boatÕs velocity (speed and direction) 6.0s later when the gust of wind subsides?

Bored, you throw a rock at an angle of 60 degrees above the horizontal. If the initial speed is 30 m/s and the rock impacts the ground 7.5 seconds later... 
(a) What maximum vertical altitude above the launch point does the rock reach?  

(b) What is the vertical displacement of the rock from the launch point to where it impacts the ground. Is the launch point higher or lower than the landing point?
